Use the Floor Rule

Implement a new rule by which the entire family should abide. Doing just this task can be an excellent start for where to start decluttering.

There shall be nothing that just gets tossed or just left on the floor!

There are usually some things, strewn about, on the floor. They wait to be picked up and properly put away or handled.

  • Who wants to grab a top or pants from a pile on the floor that might have bugs in it?
  • Why stress about the clutter day after day when you can clean it and experience peace at once?

Why do we do this instead of returning them to their home? Because it might take a couple of minutes more to do that? Letting it just accumulate will make it a more significant task. Initially, resetting the home like this may be harder when you have too much stuff, but as you make progress with decluttering, it will become easier.

Think of the rooms you wouldn’t have to go back through and clean each week if you kept up this habit!

Don’t say you’re not tidy. Say you’re neat and be it. You can change. Change for the better!
