To make change more natural and useful in the long run, sometimes it can be essential to see things from a fresh perspective. One real whack on the side of the head for me was when I realized that I paid daily in stress looking at and living with my clutter. It would eat away my time by having to interact with it. It would wear me down by having to see it, so I enjoyed my time with the family less.
How nice would it be to have a home that felt like the initial rush of what a neat and clean hotel room felt like at first?
So I started to think about this. At first, I didn’t realize just how much time and energy it zapped from me until I moved it out of that room, and instantly being in that room was energizing.
However, the weight of the clutter in the other room still weighed on me. I moved into that room and was able to get rid of more, now that I saw it was attacking my peaceful home.
The overabundance of artwork in piles I had already taken pictures of even kept us from making more artwork. Don’t want to add to the mess.
Not being able to get in and out of the room with the game closet lead to less fun family nights.
Oh, how that clutter cost me! Now, when I see a stack appear or things seem to be in the middle of no home or real ownership claim, I reap them. Purge them, recycle them, whatever I need to do to get them out.
Because it’s not worth the cost.
I’ve also tried to sell things but have concluded that getting it gone is more critical.
Please, change your way of thinking to change your world. Consider the ongoing cost of stress when it comes to decluttering. Do the declutter once and get it gone, enjoy and live your life again!
