Best Tips to Stay Motivated while Decluttering

Have you discovered your desire for more and started decluttering? Are you wondering how to stay motivated while decluttering for the long haul as you build up your decluttering muscles?

I’ve found that doing various challenges or methods I find online helps, but sometimes I am feeling really energized but then finish up the task at hand and want to do more.

Other times, ‘life happens’ and I lose interest or focus for a while and end up delaying progress.

We can lose our motivation in many ways, and by figuring out what it is that is causing our loss of interest, we can reignite the passion to a clutter free life.

Decluttering Motivation Suckers

Waiting for the Next Step

If you’re working on an online challenge, only to find at some points, that you complete the task at hand and want to do more while endorphins are high, then by all means, continue! Wenever you have energy and enthusiasm to declutter, do not let the current process you’re using slow you down. Take that energy and use it as a way to make a great effort while on your way to your ideal life.

Too Busy to Declutter

Now, if, on the other hand, you feel too busy and like you can’t ever get to decluttering, you need to realize that you must decide your journey is important enough to make time for it.

Remember your reason for decluttering, and this will help. Also, realize that time spent on the front end will reap great benefits of time, calm, and less stress many times over. Think about it – how many times do you pass by that pile of paper and it inches up your heart rate? If you could and would just go ahead and go through it, it would be one less stress in your life.

Don’t Know Where to Start

Now, if, on the other hand, you feel overwhelmed and don’t know where to start, try to take baby steps. Identify just small areas you will work on each day. Or decide to try to get rid of 10 items each day, or even just go through 10 items. Do a drawer at a time. As long as you keep moving forward, you’ll be working toward your goal of a more meaningful life.

Use Why You’re Stuck to Help You Move

  • Remember that there are different reasons for people to get stuck.
  • Identify why you’re stuck.
  • If you can identify why, you can best address the problem.
  • Based on why you’re stuck, follow the instructions above to make progress.

Good luck on your continued success!
